ABOUT THE COMPANY

I’m partnered with a small to mid-sized General Contractor in Charlotte that has experienced rapid growth over the past few years — and they’re not slowing down anytime soon. With plans to expand another 30%, they’re now looking for a Senior Estimator to join the team and help shape the future of their preconstruction department.

This GC focuses on commercial projects including restaurants, gas stations, medical offices, and convenience stores. The culture is relaxed, friendly, and flexible — built around trust and accountability rather than micromanagement.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This isn’t a “slot in and stay in your lane” type of position. You’ll work directly with the partners of the business, mentor a Junior Estimator, and play a key role in shaping the company’s future. As the business continues to expand, you’ll have the genuine opportunity to lead the entire estimating division.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Lead full-cycle estimating for commercial projects from concept through GMP
  • Prepare detailed estimates, budgets, and proposals
  • Review drawings, specs, and scopes to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Manage subcontractor pricing, bid reviews, and value engineering
  • Partner with clients, architects, engineers, and internal teams for a smooth project handover
  • Mentor and support Junior Estimators as they develop

REQUIREMENTS

  • 5+ years of experience estimating commercial ground-up construction projects
  • Strong knowledge of preconstruction, cost management, and bid strategy
  • Procore experience strongly preferred
  • Someone who enjoys collaboration but can take ownership and run with things
  • Proven leadership qualities — confident guiding others, making decisions, and being the go-to person in the department
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships with owners, design teams, and trade partners
  • A people person who thrives in a team-focused, friendly environment — approachable, positive, and easy to work with
  • Forward-thinking mindset with a desire to help shape and grow the company’s preconstruction function
