ABOUT THE ROLE
My client is seeking an experienced Superintendent with a strong background in Senior Living construction, including assisted living, independent living, and memory care facilities. The Superintendent will lead all on-site construction activities, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the companies high standards of quality and craftsmanship.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the complexities of occupied renovations, phased construction, accessibility compliance, and the unique operational requirements of senior living environments.
Field Leadership & Supervision
Manage all day-to-day on-site construction activities for senior living projects.
Supervise, coordinate, and direct subcontractors, vendors, and field staff.
Maintain daily project logs, photos, and field reports to track progress and quality.
Safety & Compliance
Enforce safety standards and OSHA regulations across all site operations.
Conduct site-specific safety meetings and ensure subcontractor compliance.
Promote a culture of safety and respect—particularly important in occupied senior living environments.
Scheduling & Coordination
Work closely with the Project Manager to create, maintain, and update detailed construction schedules.
Coordinate with facility staff to minimize disruptions to residents and ongoing operations.
Manage inspections, utility coordination, and delivery logistics to maintain project flow.
Quality Control
Ensure all work meets design specifications, code requirements, and quality standards.
Review shop drawings, submittals, and field changes with architects and engineers.
Perform regular site inspections and proactively resolve field issues.
Client & Stakeholder Relations
Serve as on-site representative to owners, architects, consultants, and facility administrators.
Communicate clearly and professionally with senior living staff and residents when applicable.
Foster positive relationships that reinforce company reputation for care, integrity, and collaboration.
REQUIREMENTS
10+ years of construction experience, with at least 5 years as a Superintendent.
Demonstrated experience managing senior living, healthcare, or occupied renovation projects.
Strong knowledge of building systems, accessibility codes, and infection control procedures.
Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Proficiency in project management and scheduling software (Procore, MS Project, or similar).
OSHA 30-hour certification required.
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
