ABOUT THE ROLE
Position Summary
My client is seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to prepare accurate and competitive estimates for a wide range of construction projects. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of construction methods, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple bids in a fast-paced environment. This role is essential in supporting our business development efforts and ensuring successful project planning from the outset.
Key Responsibilities
Review project plans, specifications, and documents to prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
Perform quantity take-offs and evaluate project scope to identify required resources and potential risks.
Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate pricing with subcontractors and vendors to ensure competitiveness and accuracy.
Prepare and assemble bid proposals, budgets, and cost breakdowns for commercial, residential, and industrial construction projects.
Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and consultations to develop a complete understanding of project requirements.
Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and company leadership to align estimates with operational capabilities.
Maintain current knowledge of material pricing, market conditions, and construction industry trends.
Assist in project hand-off, ensuring a smooth transition from estimating to construction management teams.
Track and maintain organized estimate documentation for internal review and recordkeeping
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
3–5+ years of construction estimating experience (general construction, sitework, or trade-specific experience highly valued).
Strong understanding of construction methods, building codes, and industry best practices.
Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., ProEst, PlanSwift, Bluebeam, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to read and interpret plans, blueprints, and technical drawings.
Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred, but equivalent experience will be considered.
